Due to issues arising from the departure of the guild master, the Council of Magi has been disbanded. Many members have been accepted into the Midnight Reveries.

Farewell
Recent events have caused me to do some self-evaluation. I have come to the conclusion that I can make a more meaningful contribution to the the Alliance by venturing forth from the Council of Magi and offering my services to other guilds which may be in desperate need of a Mage. If I do not get to speak to you personally about this, then allow me to express my thanks to each of you for the friendship and assistance you have provided these past months. In particular, I thank Gaspar, who has been my mentor in the World of Azeroth. I know that our paths will cross again in the future and I hope you all know that you can call on me for assistance if you are ever in need.
Safe travels!

Safeguarding the Library
Friends, recent events have troubled me greatly. With the sudden disappearance of our Chancellor, and his equally sudden reappearance, I have realized that our Council is overly dependent on one man. In this vein I have realized that the existence of our Library is also dependent on one man, namely your humble servant. Although I know that the inner workings of the Library are truly a bit arcane, I have taken the step of promoting both Gaspar and Foloz to "admins" so that they may make future changes should anything happen to me. They will also be able to grant this priviledge to future Librarians. Both will shortly be receiving a note with which they can activate their new status.
Safe travels!

Of Minds and Magi
Dear Magi,
Last night, we held a very important meeting. For those who were able to attend, thank you. You've played an excellent part in the forwarding of our council. For those who are not, I offer you this general summary. We began by agreeing on the fact that Gaspar may be missing for some time. In his absence, we must elect a leader, and a banker. Shinata's sister, Euodia, has offered to take that. The motion was initiated by Shinata, seconded by Flon, and approved by all other attending members.
The second position up for the taking was a temporary Chancellor. The first to be nominated was.. myself. The motion was seconded by Flon, initiated by Cello, and approved by all other attending members.
These positions will remain in effect as long as Gaspar is absent from the Council. Upon his return, we will determine the next course of action.
The next item of buisness happened to be a magical possession. I was attacked by an invader in my mind, and they took control of my body. Though Cello, Flon, Vard, and Mezlo were defeated in battle, Zolon managed to regain his mind, adn return to aid his fallen colleagues. With the aid of a passing Paladin, the party was revived. Cello was making plans to produce an anti-mind control device, and I was able to determine a loophole in the attacker's possession. I promise that when they attack, the loophole will be fairly obvious, but it takes about 10-15 minutes to unravel their possession spells. Cello was then possessed, where she attacked Flon, and was subdued by myself.
In a time of the loss of our Chancellor, the opening of the Dark Portal to allow demonic forces to attack us, the danger of mana rifts and unbalances, and this new threat.. we have to remain strong. If possible, travel and work in pairs. If you notice an imbalance in the magical levels of mana streams, report it. If you find a mana rift, report it. If you are attacked by a fellow magi, report it. We need to remain strong, and together. The council will survive, and it will thrive!
Council of Magi forever!

An Old Man Steps Down
Flon rubs his eyes after reading, with some small amount of guilt, the unpublished departing words of Gaspar. He wonders why Gaspar would think that this would not be uncovered, even if it took a few days (Jan 14th) before the Librarian thought to look for it. Indeed, it might have remained a secret had Flon himself not been thinking of the future course of his own life. Were Gaspar here, there are two things that Flon would like to say to him...
- The drama of the past few days has taken a toll, and Flon has realized that he does not want the responsibility of leadership for the Council. He does have some small regret that he disbursed the Chancellor's funds so quickly, but he admits that stewardship of so much gold made him very nervous. At any rate, the gold went to purchase mounts for deserving members of the Council, as good a cause as any.
- And finally, it came as no surprise to me that Gaspar was burned out...you did a good job forming this guild, and I for one enjoyed the ride. Good luck to you whatever your future holds!
The following is the unedited note left in the Library by the departed Chancellor, Gaspar. Since he does seem to be gone for good, I thought that it was best to publish it here.
Through the months of trying to establish a Council Of Magi, Gaspar Melchior has given his last bit of energy to see that a Council be formed. The Council has started and grows each day with more and more Academics finding their way down to the secret library. Since the begining the search for councillors has not been and easy path but through the dedication of the Chancellor the Council Circle grew and the schools filled up. Time has passed and this old man has seen the circle grow and its Magicienne find their path in their magics. Though the spirit of the Magi has been growing the sanity of Gaspar has slowly been detierirating. His goal was to not only form a new order of Magi but to empower them and show the Alliance that their knowledge and wisdom was far more important than any blade.
With the recent news of the Dark portal being reopened the thoughts of Gaspar have been daunting and illogical. His recent time spent in the Plaguelands have not been fruitful for his mind's health. Death and destruction have been on his mind for too long and he knew that even before he made the Council that he was very limited on his own life's time span.
((With the recent patch my computer has been crashing midgame and my spell icons have been all mangled. I tried to find the problem by reading the Forum solutions and from what I know my video card is not compatible with this new version. I have been seeing crazy images in the game and this experience has made Gaspar gone completly senile. I have posted just one crazy image that I saw and what Gaspar is seeing :) I dont know if I can fix this problem but I do know that I dont plan on buying anything more for this bloody game. The computer I have is not even a year old and if the High Definition moniter and new computer cant play WOW anymore than I take this as the straw that breaks the Camels back. Many of you know that I have been playing this game nonstop since I formed the guild, I think a rest on my part is in order.
Recently I hit lvl 60 and I find that the game becomes even more gear dependent when it comes to PVE and especially PVP. I'm tired. I like real time stratedgy and I'm a little bored with playing just to get a epic peice of equiptment.
I think my leave at this time couldnt be better. A new expansion is coming out and the High Table or at least the Midnight Reveries are growing significantly and are getting a Team Speak program. I dont know the fate of the Council but I will certaintly say that it was a fun run. I would make two important special thanks:
Rosiline: When the Council was in the middle of switching its guild name you were the last person around to get that guild charter signed. The guild started with your dedication. That is why you were an "Scholar". We wish you could have made a few more appearences later on, but life does get in the way of video games. :) Good show!
And the greatest thanks goes to our Librarian Flon.
The site was the corner stone of our guild. Your dedication and patience is something I greatly admired. I'm going to talk with you about all the specifics regarding our bank, If I can return, guild management, merging with MR's (who knows eh?) etc. I would truely say to you that I'm sorry to leave on such short notice. But as a parent and as someone who knows the value of life and its joys outside of videogames I know that you understand that I need to get out of here!
I thank all of the Council Circle members, Faloz, great f'n banner man!, Mye your Rping has gave this guild tremendous momentum, Amith! for being a great companion to lvl with! Vard, Zolon, Shency and Whiplit who never got to get the title but showed he wanted it ! I thank you for putting up with me lol
Midnight Reveries:
Balbanes! I beat you 60! get your arcane intelligence from someone else now and get your own damn water, love ya dude!
Dreamer your made our guild possible!
Ergluth Thanks for the great healing!
Sunny Always a pleasure ! ))
Gaspar sat alone at his favorite chair or from what his senile mind could rememeber as being a favorite chair, in the Main chamber of the private library infront of the large orb of communication. His eyes drifted from shelf to shelf all across the library looking at everything he built. The library was dark and very quiet, no Magi were around and the orb was black as night. He took one last look around the library before he made his way to Librarian Flon's closed study door. There he placed under the door a small peice of paper with certain instructions.
His footsteps echoed through the library and his staff dragged across the floor heavily. His grip upon the trusty weapon was painfully tight. He came at last to the entrance of the library and took out his wand of communication that had a direct link to the orb of communication. His steady eyes looked to the wand. He held the wand out before him and said "Ash to Ash, Dust to Dust". The wand crumbled into a pile of ash and was blown out of his hand by a breeze that escaped from the main door.
Slowly and as quietly as he could he opened the doors to the secret staircase that led to the public library. Still gripping tightly to his staff he made his way up the stairs and at last came to an end of the staircase. Gaspar raised his hand toward the closest torch on the wall and twisted the handle horizontally. The wall before him opened and revealed a library shelf aisle. The old man entered the public library; the secret door behind him closed and the secret council library door beneath him slowly creaked shut. The private library below was empty, the Chancellor, the old man had left his post.

A Chancellor's Proposal
Magi, The Dark Portal in the Blasted Lands will be opened this Tuesday January 16th. I have notified the High Table Alliance that the Council wishes to be apart of this event. However before we can observe this we will need to prepare for it this Saterday January 13th, and so we will be traveling together from Darkshire in Duskwood to the Nethergarde Keep in the Blasted Lands. There we will make arrangements with the Flight Path masters.
The exact time of this preperation, the march to Nethergarde keep, will be finalized during the Council Circle meeting this wednesday January 10th.

Library and Forum registration update 1/3/07
As you recall I set a goal of having all of our officers registered for our Library and Forums, along with the Midnight Reveries' HQ, by January 1st. So here's my report. The Library list is at left, COM forums list at right. My understanding is that we presently have 10 officers:

- Gaspar - Chancellor :|
- Rosiline - Scholar :(
- Flon - Librarian
- Foloz - Librarian :|
- Zolon - Speaker Pyromancy
- Vard - Speaker Invokery :|
- Mye - in limbo but still an officer
- Amith - Speaker Hydromancy
- Shencey- Speaker Sagery :|
- Dagallas - Overseer :|
So, in the spirit of the new year I submit the following list of things to do for all Councilors:
- If you haven't done so yet, and you are an officer, please register for the Library, the COM forums, and the MRHQ. It's not that hard, just takes a couple of minutes. Click here for instructions.
- If you are not an officer but want to contribute to the Library and participate in the forums (COM or High Table), go ahead and register, as I said it just takes a couple of minutes.
- Write a bio for yourself and post it in the Library. We are a heavy RP guild...I don't see how anyone can RP effectively without some background, so why not post it so we can all enjoy?
- Please participate by adding documents, pictures, etc to the Library and/or forums. Even though I enjoy writing these articles I would love to have more active contributors. This is not meant to be The Flon Show! (Note to self, pitch The Flon Show to Blizzard execs...)
